Description
Discover Douro vineyard landscape, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, tasting its wines and enjoying a spectacular boat tour.
This trail starts from Provesende, one of the six wine villages in the Douro region. The trail passes near the Torguiano viewpoint of São Cristóvão do Douro and goes down to the mouth of the river Pinhão through paths between terraces which shapes a vineyard landscape classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
At the end of the trail “abre-se a boca de espanto…, e fica-se maravilhado...” (the mouth opens in astonishment, and one is overwhelmed…) (Miguel Torga, in “Portugal, Doiro”), with the unique view that stretches ahead, having reached the Douro river and mouth of the river Pinhão and one of the main shipping docks of splendid wines produced in the region.
