View structures that bore witness to the traditional way of life of the population at the end of the 19th century and mid of the 20th century and appear along the trail.
A natural landscape, formed by escarpments covered with the rich and diversified vegetation of the Douro Valley, still subsists under the imposing Fraga da Ola.
The trail heads north, towards the village of Pinhal do Douro, where we can observe a set of scattered structures, identified as some apiary´s walls, ovens used to dry figs, and a set of mills, which make up and characterize the rural landscape.
On the second half of this walking trail, we will head to a different short-distance walking trail where we will observe several traditional mill structures, with their flumes and dams, as well as various other functional buildings, such as ovens to bake bread, barns, dovecotes, and houses. All these are still well preserved, bearing witness to the traditional way of life of this population at the end of the 19th century and mid of the 20th century.
This walking ends by the information panel located next to the Museu da Memória Rural of Vilarinho da Castanheira.
