Day 1: Arriving at Accommodation

Day 2: Walking at “Trilho do Senhor da Boa Morte”
Distance: 9,6 Km | 5,9 mi

Difficulty of Walk: Very Easy
The trail follows across the village and heads towards the viewpoint Olhos do Tua, where you may experience a privileged view over the valley and the Tua river.
From this point on, the trail goes down towards the Tua river, entering the micro-reserve of Castanheiro – Ribalonga, where you may already observe woods of wild chestnut trees.
Going up towards the village of Tralhariz, you may also observe bushes of cork trees and holms oaks with juniper and an ancient furnace used to dry figs.

Day 3: Walking at “Trilho de Foz-Tua”

The “Trilho de Foz-Tua” is a linear walking trail that allows you to establish close relations to “Tua” and “Douro” – two rivers and two historic railway lines that shape the magnificent landscapes of the “Alto Douro Vinhateiro”, classified as UNESCO World Heritage of the “Parque Natural Regional do Vale do Tua”.
Enjoy the Tua Valley, pay a visit to the Interpretative Center of the Valley of Tua (CIVT), take the opportunity to snack, by the river, the famous eels from the mouth of the Tua River and the no less famous and delicious little fishes from the Douro River.

Day 4: Walking at “Trilho do Vale do Tua”

The starting point of this trail is located in the old railway station of Abreiro. It proceeds to the Abreiro´s Bridge, mandatory stepover where you can observe the valley where two pillars of the old bridge still stand – locally known as the Diabo´s Bridge.
Arriving in Abreiro, you can see the the pillory, the Mother Church and visit the Dr. Adérito Rodrigues Museum, where you can confirm your location on the information panel.
The trail follows towards the Vale do Tua Viewpoint, with outstanding views over the Tua River and the Tua railway.
Descending, it will approach the Tua river´s waters, following along its right bank. It then turns back towards Abreiro´s railway station.

Day 5: Walking at Quadrassal
Distance: 12 Km | 7,5 mi

The hiking trail “Quadrassal”, goes through the estate Quinta do Romeu with some thousands of hectares/acres of woodland typically Mediterranean that has its origins in the Pliocene (approximately 5 million years ago). The land contains stretches of an indescribable beauty, both in terms of its landscape and of the environmental balance within. The estate is entirely run under certified Organic Farming. Parts of the estate are classified within the Natura 2000 network, the European network for the preservation of biodiversity and natural habitats.

The hiking ends at Maria Rita restaurant, with a historic ambience, where we can taste various Douro DOC wines, as well as a choice family recipes prepared exclusively with Romeu Olive Oil and local vegetables. Served with simplicity and affability by local girls, the harmony is perfect, the experience surprising.

Day 6: Walking “Trilho de Pinhão – Casal de Loivos”
Distance: 9,8 Km | 6 mi

Difficulty of Walk: Easy
This is a circular pedestrian trail that starts and ends in the town of Pinhão, and as a short deviation to the Casal de Loivos viewpoint.

The route begins near the Pinhão railway station, built in the 19th century and regarded as one of the most beautiful stations of the country.

On the slopes bordering the Pinhão river and the Douro River, between Pinhão and Casal de Loivos, you will find, harmoniously embedded in the landscape, many of the historic Douro farms and the main Port wine production houses.

There is a deviation in Casal de Loivos to its viewpoint, allowing you to appreciate what was considered by an English newspaper as the third most beautiful landscape in the world.

Day 7: Walking “Trilho das Fragas Más”
Distance: 10 Km | 6,2 mi
Duration: 3h40min
Difficulty of Walk: Easy
This trail starts at the Laranjeiras garden, in the village of São Mamede de Ribatua.
It goes toward the village of Safres, going along several tracks of Roman roads.
The highlight in Safres is the view over the river Tua and the micro-reserve of Amieiro – Safres – São Mamede de Ribatua.
Returning to the village of São Mamede de Ribatua, the trail goes closer to the river Tua, where the valley and the plantations of the famous orange trees of São Mamede de Ribatua may be admired, among cork oaks and olive trees.
From the viewpoint you may envisage the magnificence of the Cliffs “Fragas Más”.
